Customer feedback on a HOWO tractor unit

Feedback we received from a customer running a HOWO tractor unit: the truck suits their mining transport work, the power is strong, and it has been hauling heavy loads continuously since it was delivered.

That kind of report matters more for a tractor unit than for most other trucks in the range, because a tractor pulling loaded trailers into a mine site rarely gets a rest between runs. The gearbox and axle are working at rated load on nearly every trip, not occasionally at peak the way a truck running mixed loads would be. A unit that keeps that up without the driver reporting problems is doing what it was specified to do.

Mining transport is also one of the harder environments to run a truck in — unmade haul roads, dust, and loading that is rarely gentle on the chassis. Buyers who specify a tractor unit for this work are usually less interested in top speed than in whether the engine and driveline hold up to being loaded and worked hard, shift after shift, for years rather than months. That kind of duty cycle is also why axle rating and cooling capacity get checked closely at the specification stage, before contract price is discussed — a tractor unit that is undersized for the route shows the problem within weeks, not years.

Sites running this kind of haulage often need more than one type of heavy vehicle on the same yard — a tractor unit to move loaded trailers, and something to lift and place heavier items at the loading or maintenance point. We build both out of the same factory: the tractor chassis platforms above, and a truck mounted crane for sites where booking a separate mobile crane for occasional lifts is not worth the cost.

We do not have more detail on this particular customer beyond what came back to us — the vehicle, the application, and the fact that it has kept working. That is the kind of feedback that arrives after delivery rather than as a formal review, and we are passing it on as it was given, without filling in anything we were not told.
